Government Gazette original beach proclamations

Monday, July 24th, 2006

Thanks to Tas666.com for pointing out these scans of the Victorian Government Gazette showing the original proclamations of some of our most popular clothing optional beaches.

The legislative process (at its most basic) requires a zone to be proclaimed by the Victorian Government before it can be allocated for use by the local responsible council. The process is convoluted and it is often difficult to tell which Minister is responsible for the State side of the equation. It can also be just as difficult identifying the appropriate responsbile person within a council – frequently it’s a “hot potatoe” issue, and can result in “on the quiet” changes in ordinances (refer to articles in the “Beaches” section for discussions on beach status and the sudden changes that can be felt!)

If anyone has updates to these links, or more recent proclamations that they are aware of, please let us know and we will update this information.

The (current at 07/06) Minister’s contact details are:

The Honourable Rob Justin Hulls
Attorney-General, Minister for Industrial Relations and Minister for
Planning
Level 17, 8 Nicholson St, East Melbourne 3002
Tel: 9637 8855
Fax: 9637 8921

Update 27/07/06

Added a stack more functionality and fixed some bugs, so things should have settled down a bit now. Try the new search option, it’s been tested but the real world is always best for finding little problems. Also cleaned up a stack of the formating of categories and the navigation links, and added a brand new FAQ.

Check it all out and please provide feedback!
