Action at the beach…

TOP

Representatives of the nudist community are planning on distributing information about the Council’s action at the beach over coming weeks. Visitors to the area may receive a flyer containing some of the following information - everyone is urged to help the community and write to Rob Hulls, Minister for Planning (contact details on the Addresses page).

SAVE POINT IMPOSSIBLE BEACH

The Surf Coast Shire has recently made a recommendation to the Victorian Government Planning Minister to close Pt Impossible as an ‘optional dress beach’.

Your support is needed to keep this beach open for us all to enjoy. The more people who contact the Minister, the more likely he is to listen.

Please support the campaign by writing to or emailing:

The Honourable Rob Hulls
Department of Justice
Level 17, 8 Nicholson St
EAST MELBOURNE VIC. 3002
Email: rob.hulls [Email address: rob.hulls #AT# parliament.vic.gov.au - replace #AT# with @ ]

You may want to say something like this:

“We believe that the recommendation to close Pt Impossible as an ‘optional dress beach’ has been made with scant evidence and hysterical over-reactions on the part of those supporting the recommendation and without appropriate consultation in the community of those who actually use this facility.

There are hundreds of ‘clothed’ beaches available to those who have no interest in ‘optional dress’ beaches. Why should law-abiding citizens be penalised in their recreation because of their preferences? Surely in 2006, Governments must be seen to support diversity rather than conformity.

Many of the users of this beach, gazetted as ‘optional dress’ more than 30 years ago, come from Melbourne and from interstate and overseas. The closure of this beach leaves us open to being seen as small-minded and provincial as well as causing a drop in tourist visits and affecting the development of regional businesses on which we so much rely.

Thanks for your support
