Out of hibernation

Thursday, September 13th, 2007

Greetings all and welcome to a return to updates on this site following what seemed to be a really long winter!! We realise that the recent rains were much needed, but wouldn’t it be great if the rain could be booked in for overnight, so we could have sunny days?

In the last couple of weeks there has been some sun, and a few of our members have already hit the beaches to see how things are looking. Even on a sunny day, the wind factor still presents a problem, particularly early in the season when the breeze ain’t exactly warm. If you don’t notice the cold much, a sunny day in the low 20′s should be OK and you’ll have the beaches mostly to yourself.

On other news, the various forums have started to get active again – if you aren’t already a member, get onto them now before it gets warm and introduce yourself to the nice folks!! The links you could start with are:

Melbourne_Nudists-Naturists on Yahoo is the main group
Solobares is another popular group

Don’t forget to drop a line on the groups and say hi – everyone is friendly and happy to have a chat. Also get yourself along to the DTE and Solarwest swim nights, check the links page for their websites and more information.

Finally, we need everyone out on the beaches this summer. A number of people put in a huge effort across last summer in preventing the loss of Victoria’s nude beaches through an action initiated by one Surf Coast councilor (read the archived posts for the history and entertainment!!). We’ve established some great outcomes and managed to keep the beaches nude for now, but the councils will be watching closely this summer for any reason to try shut them down again.

Look after the beaches, look out for each other, and report inappropriate behaviour immediately. The beaches are there for you, are worth protecting, and are definitely worth using!!

We all look forward to seeing you out on the sand!!
