And more media…

This article (”Spy cams to snap sex on the beach”) scanned from the Geelong Advertiser is the latest installment in the Point Impossible discussion - Click here

Much of the content of this Geelong Advertiser article itself is pretty much on topic (thanks Aleks!), but who’s in charge of titles and picking the photos at the Addy? Then again, a photo and title like that will hopefully make people read the article, which does highlight a couple of interesting points:
- For the first time, it has been acknowledged that problems exist on ALL beaches, and that measures being considered for Point Impossible apply equally at other locations
- The problems associated with the nude beach appear isolated to the carpark and the dunes areas (which nudists have always known!)

Have a read of the article - if you’re familiar with the reporting style last year, you’ll notice a subtle change in focus - nudists are not the cause of the problems, and as a community we want to help improve the beach for everyone to enjoy - report anything inappropriate to the police, just like you would on any beach!!

Surf Coast Shire meeting - early comments

Sunday, May 4th, 2008

On April 29, representatives from the Surf Coast Shire, police, community, and the nudist community met to conduct the follow-up workshop 12 months after the original workshop to discuss the clothing optional classification of Point Impossible. To refresh your memories, check back through the archive on this site!!

Anyway, it only took a couple of days but already the media (in this case, the Geelong Independent) was talking to people before any official statements were released by the Surf Coast Shire. Nothing exciting this time around, although it would appear one of the MANY suggestions to come out of the meeting seemed to really grab attention!! Check the full article on this scan from the paper - Click here

In summary, the workshop came up with many comments and suggestions about ways to improve the beach so that it (like many beaches) can be used by all community groups to be enjoyed by all. A more detailed commentary will be made once the Surf Coast Shire releases the official outcomes of the workshop…

And a comment relating to this article in the Geelong Independent - yes, cameras were discussed as one of the many options for controlling behaviour in the carpark and toilet area at Point Impossible. It was never proposed that the camera would be anywhere near the beach, and it should be noted that the camera would not necessarily be permanent - the Surf Coast Shire has to consider options that improve security and safety at ALL beaches, and a portable camera could be moved to different locations as required.

As always (and you should all know what comes next) - if you see anything at any of the beaches that is inappropriate and/or illegal, REPORT IT!!! Real nudists don’t misbehave at the beach, and we’re tired of the unsavoury behaviour reflection on our well-behaved community. Stand up for our beach, or we might lose it!!

12 months on…

Tuesday, April 29th, 2008

Today was the follow-up workshop 12 months on from the discussions around the clothing optional status of Point Impossible. Representatives from the Surf Coast Shire, Vic Police, Ratepayers association, GORCC, ANF/FBA and others convened to see what had happened at Point Impossible over the summer.

The Surf Coast Shire is due to publish the outcomes of the meeting, so no details can be provided just yet. If last year is anything to go by, the media will get involved shortly!! We will report more detail once more information is released!!

Great news for Posso - we’re well behaved!!

Monday, March 31st, 2008

Of course, that’s a slightly facetious statement, since nudists already knew that we’re a well behaved bunch!! But this article in a recent edition of the Geelong Independent suggests that the police agree with us (and therefore, by definition, do not agree with our favourite Councillor Ron Humphrey!!).

Of course, Cr Ron had to throw in his 0.02c opinion, check the article to determine the value therein yourselves!!

As always, remember that we’re lucky to have access to great facilities in Victoria and we need to remain vigilant in looking after them. If you see anything inappropriate, report it - the Torquay police have been very helpful with their patrols and quite reasonable approach to our plight, and we should do everything we can to support their efforts.

Enjoy the beach, and support those that support you using that beach!!
